Best Golf Simulator Impact Screens & Enclosures (2026): Weave, Bounceback & Sizing Guide
Published: November 4, 2026 · Last updated: November 4, 2026
Quick answer
There are three ways to build the hitting end of a home simulator. A screen on its own hangs from a frame or in front of a net: Carl’s Place’s Standard 8×8 Classic screen is $227.95 at PlayBetter, and Shop Indoor Golf’s SIGPRO Premium screen starts at $314.99. A DIY kit adds the enclosure and fittings: the Carl’s Place 8×8×5 kit is $999.95 at AVI-SPL, plus $349.95 for the pipe framing kit. A complete enclosure includes the frame: the SIG10 is $1,999.99 at Shop Indoor Golf with a 10 ft 1 in. × 7 ft 7 in. 4:3 screen. Whichever you choose, Carl’s Place budgets 12 to 16 in. behind the screen and 10 to 12 ft from the screen to the tee.
Pick the screen shape together with the projector: our projector guide gives the mounting distance for both shapes, and the cost calculator prices each set-up.

Prices were read on each seller’s product page on 4 November 2026, except Rukket’s, whose store our checks cannot read (its price is from October 2026). XS Golf did not physically test these screens or enclosures; this guide is a synthesis of maker and retailer specifications and Carl’s Place’s published guidance.
What “best” means for an impact screen
We compare screens and enclosures on four things: the picture shape and size, which has to suit your projector and computer; the screen material, which decides picture smoothness, noise and bounceback; how it mounts (grommets and ball bungees on your own frame, or a complete pipe frame); and price, including any framing you have to buy separately.
Screens, kits, enclosures and nets compared
| Product | Price (seller) | Picture area and shape | How it mounts | In our cost calculator |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| SIG10 enclosure | $1,999.99 (Shop Indoor Golf) | 4:3, 10 ft 1 in. × 7 ft 7 in.; whole enclosure 10 ft 10 in. wide, 8 ft 4 in. high, 13 ft 7 in. deep | Complete: colour-coded push-pin poles, SIGPRO Premium screen, nylon surround, foam padding, 6 in. ball bungees | Yes |
| Rukket 12×9 Barricade net | $139.99 (Rukket, October 2026; listed $129.99 to $139.99) | No projection surface | Freestanding barrier net | Yes |
| SIGPRO Golf Net | $299.99 (Shop Indoor Golf; $399.99 comparison price) | No projection surface | Practice net | No |
Five of these are in our cost calculator’s catalog at the same prices: the Carl’s Place Standard screen, the DIY kit and its framing kit, the SIG10 and the Rukket net. AVI-SPL’s listing calls the kit’s screen Standard in its title and Premium in its description; check which one ships before you order. Shop Indoor Golf says golf simulator enclosures (SIGPRO Commercial in most sizes) join its Black Friday sale at 25% off from 9 November 2026; that offer had not started on 4 November and does not name the SIG10. Our Black Friday simulator deals guide tracks it.
Screen material: picture, noise and bounceback
Carl’s Place rates all its screens for shots up to 250 mph, against the highest tour average ball speeds of just over 180 mph. It describes the Standard as its inexpensive screen, the Preferred as having “a tighter weave for a smoother picture”, and the Premium as “a layered, heavy-duty polyester” with “the best image, longest durability, some noise reduction” that “helps to minimize bounce-back”; its comparison lists noise dampening only for the Premium and High-Contrast Gray (Carl’s Place). Shop Indoor Golf says its SIGPRO Premium screen reduces sound and bounceback, citing a head-to-head comparison by MyGolfSpy.
Mounting. Most screens, including Carl’s Place’s, have grommets around the edge, and Carl’s Place’s enclosure kits include 6 in. ball bungees, a weight bag for the bottom of the screen and steel corner fittings (Carl’s Place). The DIY kit on AVI-SPL uses zip ties to set screen tension. The SIG10 ships with 6 in. ball bungees and foam padding that protects the poles behind the screen and the surround from mishits (Shop Indoor Golf).
Wear. Carl’s Place notes that burn marks on impact screens are common, particularly from high-spinning shots, and treats them as normal wear rather than a defect.
Spacing: behind the screen and in front of it
Carl’s Place budgets 12 to 16 in. behind the screen, 10 to 12 ft from the screen to the tee and about 7 ft behind the tee, about 18 ft in all (Carl’s Place). Its C-Series kits are about 5 ft deep (59.125 in. plus an 8.25 in. rear fitting, Indoor Golf Outlet), and Carl’s Place asks for 2 to 3 in. of clearance on each side. In tighter rooms our room standard uses 15 ft of depth as the minimum for a camera launch monitor beside the ball and about 16 ft for a radar unit behind it, with 12 ft of width for an offset tee and 15 ft for a centred tee shared by right- and left-handed golfers (see our left- and right-handed guide). Check your own room in the room size calculator.

Matching the screen shape to your projector
Simulator projectors are 16:9. On a 1:1 or 4:3 screen, the picture either fits the width and leaves unlit bands above and below, or a Windows PC sends a custom picture with the screen’s shape and the projector mounts farther back. For a 0.69–0.83:1 lens, our cost calculator’s mounting check gives:
| Screen | Full-height picture (Windows PC, custom resolution) | 16:9 picture (iPad, or PC at 16:9) |
|---|---|---|
| Carl’s Place 8×8 (1:1, 7.2 ft) | 8.8–10.6 ft, custom 1:1 | 5.0–6.0 ft; picture 7.2 × 4.1 ft |
| SIG10 (4:3, 10 ft 1 in. × 7 ft 7 in.) | 9.3–11.2 ft, custom 4:3 | 7.0–8.4 ft; picture 10.1 × 5.7 ft |
By Top Shelf Golf’s room rule (subtract a 6 ft hitting area from the room depth to get the throw distance you have), a full-height picture at the lens’s shortest setting needs about 14.8 ft of depth on the Carl’s Place 8×8 and 15.3 ft on the SIG10; our room size calculator runs that check for your room. Shop Indoor Golf says the SIG10 was designed so the picture fills the whole screen; with a 16:9 picture you still get bands unless the projector or PC is set to 4:3. Our projector guide covers the five short-throw projectors in detail.

Frequently asked questions
How much space do I need behind a golf simulator impact screen?
Carl’s Place budgets 12 to 16 in. between the screen and the wall behind it, then 10 to 12 ft from the screen to the tee and about 7 ft behind the tee, about 18 ft in all. Our room standard uses 15 ft of depth as the minimum for a camera launch monitor beside the ball and about 16 ft for a radar unit behind it.
What is the difference between Carl’s Place Standard, Preferred and Premium impact screens?
Carl’s Place rates all three for shots up to 250 mph. Standard is its budget screen; Preferred has a tighter weave for a smoother picture; Premium is a layered, heavy-duty polyester that Carl’s Place says gives the best image, some noise reduction and less bounceback. For the 8×8 Classic size, PlayBetter lists them at $227.95, $358.95 and $551.95.
Should I buy a 1:1 or a 4:3 impact screen?
Match it to your projector and computer. A 16:9 projector fills a 4:3 screen such as the SIG10 (10 ft 1 in. × 7 ft 7 in.) from 9.3 to 11.2 ft back with a PC set to a 4:3 picture, and a 1:1 Carl’s Place 8×8 screen (7.2 ft) from 8.8 to 10.6 ft with a custom 1:1 picture. An iPad cannot send a custom 1:1 picture, so on a square screen it shows a 16:9 picture about 4.1 ft tall.
Is a DIY enclosure kit or a complete enclosure better value?
On our catalog prices, the Carl’s Place 8×8×5 DIY kit is $999.95 plus a $349.95 pipe framing kit, $1,349.90 together, for a 7.2 ft square screen. The SIG10 enclosure is $1,999.99 with its poles, screen, surround, foam padding and ball bungees, for a larger 10 ft 1 in. × 7 ft 7 in. 4:3 screen. The kit costs less; the SIG10 gives a bigger picture and needs no pipe sourcing.
How we compiled this guide
XS Golf did not physically test these screens, enclosures or nets. Prices are from PlayBetter, AVI-SPL and Shop Indoor Golf, read on 4 November 2026, and from Rukket in October 2026; screen sizes and contents are the sellers’; screen materials and spacing are Carl’s Place’s; lens distances are the arithmetic in our cost calculator’s mounting check. How we work is on our Standards page.
