Best Golf Simulators for Left- and Right-Handed Golfers (2026): Overhead, Radar & Room Width Guide

Published: November 3, 2026 · Last updated: November 3, 2026

Quick answer

If a right-handed and a left-handed golfer share one bay and take turns, the launch monitor’s position matters as much as its price. An overhead unit such as the Uneekor EYE XO2 ($7,999, $10,999 list) hangs from the ceiling, so nothing on the floor moves between swings. A radar unit behind the ball (Garmin Approach R10 $499.99, Swing Caddie SC4 Pro $499.99, Rapsodo MLM2PRO $549.99, FlightScope Mevo Gen2 $1,149) sits on the centre line and serves both hands from one tee, but needs about 16 ft of depth. A camera unit beside the ball (Square Golf $699.99, SkyTrak ST MAX $1,695, Bushnell Launch Pro $2,499.99, Foresight GC3 $3,999, Garmin Approach R50 $4,999.99) fits a 15 ft deep room but has to be carried to the other side of the ball at every switch.

Whichever you pick, a shared bay needs a centred tee, which moves the width you need from 12 ft (one golfer, offset tee) to 15 ft or more. Check your room in our room size calculator with “Both hands” already selected.

Prices are from the XS Golf launch monitor catalog, each with its seller and the date it was checked (31 October to 4 November 2026). XS Golf did not physically test any of these units; this guide is a synthesis of manufacturer set-up guidance, room recommendations from Trackman and Carl’s Place, and published prices.

What “best” means for a shared bay

For a household with one right-handed and one left-handed golfer, we rank options on three things, in this order: how much has to move when the golfers swap (nothing, a software setting, or the unit itself), the room it needs (width for a centred tee, depth behind the ball, ceiling height), and the three-year cost with GSPro and any subscription the maker requires. Accuracy is not ranked here; our home golf simulator guide covers it with named third-party testing.

Where the launch monitor sits, and what that means for switching hands

Most buying guides assume one golfer. In a shared bay, the question is where the launch monitor sits relative to the ball, because that decides whether anything has to move when the next golfer stands on the other side of it.

Why room width is the real bottleneck: 12 ft offset against 15 ft centred

A single right-handed or left-handed golfer can use a 12 ft wide room by moving the tee off the centre line, so that their swing has the open side of the room. Put a golfer of the other hand on the same tee and they face the other way: their swing now heads for the near wall (panel A below).

A shared bay therefore needs the tee in the centre. In a 15 ft room that leaves 7.5 ft from the ball to each side wall, the same for both golfers (panel B). Trackman recommends 15 ft for a centred tee and Carl’s Place points to 14 ft or more; Trackman’s K.C. Kessler puts the residential sweet spot at 15 to 20 ft wide, 10 to 13 ft high and at least 18 ft deep (Trackman).

Depth. Carl’s Place budgets 12 to 16 inches behind the screen, 10 to 12 ft from tee to screen and 7 ft behind the tee, about 18 ft in all (Carl’s Place). In tighter rooms, our room standard uses 15 ft as the minimum for a camera unit beside the ball and about 16 ft for a radar unit behind it, because the radar takes floor space behind the golfer.

A device’s capture area is not swing clearance. Retailers sometimes quote the space a sensor needs: PlayBetter suggests about 10 × 10 ft with a 9 ft ceiling for Square Golf. That describes where the unit can read the ball, not whether two adults of opposite hands can swing a driver without reaching a wall. Before you order an enclosure, stand at the planned tee and make slow driver swings from both the right-handed and the left-handed stance.

Check a shared room now: the Golf Simulator Room Size Calculator opens on a 16 × 15 ft room with a 10 ft ceiling and “Both hands” selected, and flags any width under 15 ft.

Recommendations by priority and budget

1. Golfers who alternate every shot: overhead, nothing on the floor

Uneekor EYE XO2, $7,999 ($10,999 list). Uneekor sells it front-mounted on the ceiling in front of the golfer, about 10 ft high, with a hitting zone of 28 × 21 inches (Uneekor). With no unit on the floor, the only change between golfers is the hand setting in the software. Uneekor’s $7,999 buys the standalone unit, and its AI Studio bundle is the same $7,999 until 15 December 2026; Top Shelf Golf’s $7,999 listing includes Swing Optix cameras. Over three years with GSPro ($250 a year) and the Uneekor Pro tier ($199 a year), which GSPro requires, the unit comes to $9,346; as a full studio with a SIG10 enclosure and a BenQ AK700ST projector, our three-year ownership cost guide puts it at $14,244.99. Price your own room around it in the cost calculator with the EYE XO2 selected.

The other overhead unit in our catalog is the Foresight Falcon at $16,999 (Foresight, October 2026).

2. Shared bays without a ceiling mount: radar behind the ball (16 ft of depth)

FlightScope Mevo Gen2, $1,149 ($1,299 list). It sits behind the golfer on the target line and is on GSPro’s official list with no FlightScope plan required, so three years with GSPro come to $1,899 (GSPro cost guide). Open it in the cost calculator.

Rapsodo MLM2PRO, $549.99 ($699.99 list). A radar unit with cameras that also sits behind the ball. GSPro needs Rapsodo Premium ($199.99 a year) on top of the $250 GSPro licence, so three years come to $1,899.96. Open it in the cost calculator.

Garmin Approach R10, $499.99, and Swing Caddie SC4 Pro, $499.99 ($599.99 list). The two lowest-priced units behind the ball. The R10 is on GSPro’s official list ($1,249.99 over three years with GSPro); Voice Caddie lists no official GSPro integration for the SC4 Pro, so its GSPro cost is N/C. Open the R10 in the cost calculator or the SC4 Pro, or compare them in the launch monitor comparison.

3. One hand per session: a camera beside the ball (works at 15 ft of depth)

SkyTrak ST MAX, $1,695 ($2,995 list), and Square Golf, $699.99. Floor units beside the ball that fit a 15 ft deep room. SkyTrak’s listing includes a free year of its Core (FS) membership with an ST MAX. Three years with GSPro come to $2,744.97 for the ST MAX (with the $99.99 Essential plan GSPro needs) and $1,449.99 for Square Golf. The ST MAX is the launch monitor in our $5,000 garage build. Open the ST MAX or Square Golf in the cost calculator.

Bushnell Launch Pro, $2,499.99 ($2,999.99 list), and Foresight GC3, $3,999 ($6,999 list). Camera units beside the ball for 15 ft deep bays where each golfer mostly plays a session at a time. GSPro on the Launch Pro needs Bushnell’s Gold level, whose price is N/C because dealer listings disagree; the GC3 runs GSPro through Foresight, $4,749 over three years. Open the Launch Pro or GC3 in the cost calculator. The Garmin Approach R50 ($4,999.99) also sits beside the ball and has its own screen; open it in the cost calculator.

Uneekor EYE MINI LITE, $1,699 ($2,750 list). Not in the cost calculator’s catalog. Until 15 December 2026 a new unit bought from uneekor.com or a participating authorized retailer includes a free first year of GSPro; the $199 a year Uneekor Pro tier is still required, so three years come to $2,796 with the free year and $3,046 without it (GSPro cost guide, prices from Uneekor and PlayBetter, 2 November 2026). Uneekor does not name the participating retailers.

Hitting mats for a shared bay

Fiberbuilt Grass Series Practice Station, $249 ($499 list, Fiberbuilt, re-checked 2 November 2026). A 61 × 40 inch station with a rubber stance base and a Flight Deck hitting surface that Fiberbuilt rates for 300,000 shots. Fiberbuilt’s brand copy says its mats accommodate both right- and left-handed golfers; check the stance layout of the exact model before you order.

Centred hitting strip. Whatever mat you choose, a hitting strip in the middle with stance turf on both sides lets both golfers address the same centred tee without turning the mat between shots, which is the layout panel B assumes.

Before you buy: four checks

  1. Check the room with “Both hands” selected in the room size calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Can left- and right-handed golfers share a side-mounted launch monitor like the SkyTrak ST MAX or Bushnell Launch Pro?

Yes, but not without moving it. Side-mounted camera units sit on the floor beside the ball, across from the golfer, so when a right-handed and a left-handed golfer take turns, the unit has to be carried to the other side of the ball and lined up again, and the golfer’s hand changed in the app. That suits households where one person plays most sessions; for alternating shots, a radar unit on the centre line or an overhead unit avoids the move.

How wide does a room need to be for a left- and right-handed golf simulator?

Plan on 15 ft or more. A 12 ft room works for one golfer with the tee offset toward one wall, but a shared bay needs the tee in the centre so both swings clear the walls: Trackman recommends 15 ft for a centred tee and Carl’s Place points to 14 ft or more. Trackman’s K.C. Kessler puts the residential sweet spot at 15 to 20 ft wide, 10 to 13 ft high and at least 18 ft deep.

Do rear radar launch monitors like the Garmin Approach R10 or FlightScope Mevo Gen2 need to be moved between left- and right-handed shots?

Not from side to side. A radar unit sits behind the ball on the target line, so a right-handed and a left-handed golfer can hit from the same centred tee. The cost is depth: Garmin sets the R10 6 to 8 ft behind the ball, and our room standard asks for about 16 ft of total depth for radar units, against 15 ft for a camera unit beside the ball.

What is the lowest-priced overhead launch monitor in the XS Golf catalog?

The Uneekor EYE XO2, at $7,999 against a $10,999 list price (Uneekor and Top Shelf Golf, checked 2 to 4 November 2026). It mounts on the ceiling in front of the golfer, so nothing on the floor has to move between a right-handed and a left-handed swing. Uneekor recommends a room of at least 13 ft wide, 16 ft deep and 10 ft high; a centred tee for both hands needs 15 ft of width. Over three years with GSPro and the required Uneekor Pro tier it comes to $9,346, or $14,244.99 as a full studio with a SIG10 enclosure and a BenQ AK700ST projector.

How we compiled this guide

XS Golf did not physically test these launch monitors or swing in these rooms. Room figures come from Trackman, Carl’s Place and the makers named next to each figure, and the 15 ft / 16 ft standards are our own room standard, set out on our Standards page. Prices are the active prices in the catalog behind our cost calculator and comparer, re-checked between 31 October and 4 November 2026 against the seller named in each row; three-year totals add the software each maker requires for GSPro. Anything we could not confirm is marked N/C. For the full room set-up, see our home golf simulator setup guide and room ideas.
